The cervical cancer screening guidelines issued by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in the year 2003 and the American Cancer Society in the year 2002, strongly recommend a combination of HPV test (HPV co-test) and a Pap test for all women above 30 years of age. In the year 2011, considering the benefits, the US government propagated and promoted the HPV vaccine for males in the age group of 11-12 years in an attempt to reduce instances of abnormalities caused by HPV.
