Search Engine Optimization Tutorial Part 2 – Optimizing Every Page of Your Site

Every page of your site can be a potential entry point for visitors. As you cannot predict which page or pages will be ranked by search engines, it is wise to optimize every page so as to obtain optimal ranking.

When you optimize a page, it is important to match your Title and Meta tagging with the content of the page. For example, if you have a page which lists the services that you sell, you should place the most important and related keywords in the Title, Meta, H1, and H2 tags of the page. If the page consists of images, you should also place your keywords in the ALT tags too.

Within your content, there should be a nice mix of repetition for the keyword that you wish to optimize. However, make sure that you do not overdo it. By repeating the keyword too many times within a page, search engines may think that you are a spammer and that may hurt your ranking.

To optimize every page of your site, planning need to be done. Before you build your website, you should have a very clear picture of the sitemap of your site. Sitemap gives you a good understanding of how each page is link to one another, and what are the content on each of the page. With a good sitemap, you will be able to know what keyword to optimize for every page of your site.

Before you choose any keyword to optimize, you should always do a research first. Find out what are some of the popular keywords that your competitors are optimizing. If you run an Adwords campaign before for your website, you can also get some ideas on the popular keywords that searchers are typing to find your website from your Adwords campaign. Choose keywords that have high search volume and optimize them accordingly on the different pages of your site.

Once you have placed the necessary keywords on every page of your site, it is time to increase the link popularity of each page so as to obtain optimal ranking for your keywords. You should create separate keyword-rich anchor text and point them to the respective pages that you are optimizing. For example, you should point an anchor text with the keyword “SEO service” to a SEO page and an anchor text with the keyword “PPC service” to a PPC page. This will help build quality backlinks for each of the pages.

Optimizing every page of your site is definitely a great SEO practice as you will not be able to know which page or pages will be ranked by search engines. Every page is a potential entry point for your visitors. You will not want to miss out on the opportunity to get visitors, don’t you?
